Sorry, that "JiffyTech" person violated the posting rules & as a result, your entire thread was deleted. You're gonna have to refresh my memory. I know you wanna build a new system & you prefer AMD...did you decide which platform? Socket 939 or AM2? I forgot exactly where you are...somewhere in Europe? And your budget is approx $500? Is that US dollars?

IIRC. The dude is from Portugal & over there they transact in Euro. Nevertheless, I don't see how his meagre budget is going to wing a decent build.

And yes my budjet is 500$ (~375€)
and i dont remenber the component list you gave me...

PS: do you think that newegg ships to Europe?and if it does the prices(not the shipment) will remain the same?

Do you really think that an American retailer such as Newegg is going to ship overseas?

And in any case, if it will do know how much it is going to cost you?

And really, are you telling me there are no computer retailers in Portugal?

Come on, you're really missing the 8-ball here.

Now, for a Socket AM2 build, assuming we're talking $500 American, because I live in California, (there is no point in going 939 since AM2 is the new stuff, plus it supports DDR2 RAM which is faster) you could definitely go for:

AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Socket AM2 (Orleans), 2.4GHz, 512KB L2 Cache, 2000MHz HT, 90nm (ADA3800CWBOX)
Estimated cost: $90

Asus M2N4-SLI Socket AM2 nForce4 SLI MCP Chipset Dual-Channel DDR2 533/667/800 6-Channel Audio Gigabit Lan Dual PCI-Express Graphics Slots SLI Ready
Estimated cost: $105

Corsair DDR2 PC2-5300 667MHz Value Select 1GB Kit (2X512MB) 240-pin Unbuffered
Estimated cost: $47

Western Digital Caviar SATA II (WD1600JS) 160GB 7200RPM 8MB Buffer
Estimated cost: $60

See? We have spent $287 USD thus far.
Let's keep going...

Now that you've got your CPU, Motherboard, Memory, and a Hard Disk, we can focus on the other stuff:

BFG GeForce 8500GT nVidia GeForce 8500GT Chipset (450Mhz) 256MB DDR2 (800Mhz) Dual Display PCI-Express Graphics Card
Estimated cost: $110

That's $397

LiteOn LH-20A1P 20X DVD-Writer, Black, Retail
Chuck in another $40 for that.

Plus, you'll need a case to house all that stuff, right?

Trust me, for a mid-range system you don't need to blow $300 on a case.

At the retailer where, either they build your computer, or you buy the components, pick up a generic case for around $40. That should be O.K.

So, therefore, all in all, we have spent $477 USD.

Not too bad, eh? And you'll not only have enough money to build your PC, you'll some left over for a 6-pack of Corona, if you get my drift. You got yourself a pretty nice mid-range computer!

Good luck with your build. Now that you have the list of components you can just print it out, go to the store, and buy them!

Oh, and one more thing -- even if a store doesn't have a specific part, a lot of the time you can give them the list of the parts you want, and they'll order them for you.

Anyway, hope this helps.
