I think you're overkill on both CPU and video card. PCI-e is better than AGP; it is the future.

Go Socket 939 on the Athlon 64 board, specifically Nforce4 Ultra or SLI, not the plain NF4, so you can go to at least an FX-55 down the road, and probably be able to put on a dual core CPU on the same motherboard.

Also, go Venice or San Diego for the core type on the CPU if possible.

I define overkill as spending more money when you will see little in return. For gaming, you probably will not be able to tell a difference between an Athlon 64 3000+ and a 3600+.

You probably will be able to bump up more IQ settings with that video card over others such as the reasonably priced 6600GT, but I don't see a difference between 4x and 8X anti-aliasing, personally.

But, it's obviously your call. I personally like to pocket the money for the next upgrade we all know we're gonna need.

Looking on your other post in which you had tons o' problems, make sure you get a good quality board. Don't skimp like go with an SiS chipset board! ;-)

VIA boards are good, same with NForce4 Ultras and SLI's, although I've had some issues with the drivers on NForce4 boards. However, drivers provided by the manufacturers on the CD bundled with the board always worked. The issues I've had are installing updated reference drivers from NVidia. They are still the fastest though.

However, if you want reliability as #1, unfortunately I'd have to recommend VIA until NVidia gets their drivers for NF4 straight.

But if you can deal with using only the drivers on the CD, and can wait for NVidia to get the newer ones corrected, go NForce4 Ultra or SLI.

you should get an Asus A8N SLI-Deluxe MoBo, BGFtech 6800 gt oc video card or a Radeon X800 XL, 1024 of Micron/Crucial PC3200 RAM, and either an Athlon64 4000+ or an Athlon64 3500+. Good luck man!

P.S. and for a power supply, get either a Thermaltake or an Enermax and get one that is at least 500 WATTS. TRUST me, you get everything on my list, and your comp will OWN!!!!!!
