I have a Sony Vaio PCV-RXA842 PC with Windows XP, AMD Anthlon XP 2400+ at 2.0GHz, 512MB Ram, 2 free PCI (regular; NOT PCI-Express) slots, and one free AGP 2.0 (4X) bus. I have been researching graphics cards lately because I want to actually be able to use new games such as Doom3, Call of Duty 2, and Half Life 2. My budget is about $150 and under and I’m not sure what the best buy is. Many cards indicate that at least 300W of power is required, but I can’t seem to find out what mine is. There is no sticker on the actual power source, and all I have found out about it on the Sony web site is 100-120V –3A 50/60Hz and ACPI 1.0 compliant. I have been able to find the Radeon X700, Radeon 9800XT, and GeForce 6600 within my budget. Any information about what my power supply is, which card is right for me, or even a great deal it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

get a enermax 450 watt powersupply shouldnt be too expensive and get the 6600 gt for 150 and the ps dont know but should be like 70$
i am the lord of zircon. bow to my unholy self or i shall defuse the brain confuser :

i can't get the 6600gt for 150; only the 6600. is the regular 6600 better than the x700 and the 9800?

With your Athlon XP 2400 CPU, a 6600GT is a bit overkill. The plain 6600 or the X700 would be a better bet.
Best Buy will be selling an AGP X700Pro the day after Thanksgiving for $100.

"that is the 256mb, right?"
Correct.
"And how did you know this; do you work there?"
Google "Black Friday deals".
"Would this be a better deal?"
No.
