quick q. how would a 9800xt 128mb hold up in something like F.E.A.R. CS:S etc. (i realise a good cpu and lots of ram is neccessary)

It would help if you listed the rest of the system specs....

The 9800XT is a bit power hungry so make sure you have a decent PSU:
