trying to start up this ati radeon 9000,i just purchased,i put the cd in an the computer says it cant find the hardware.

kindly give me details for the same.
The Radeon 9000 is an antique, almost 10 yrs old. And it is NOT a gaming card. Hopefully you didn't pay more than $5 for it. What is it replacing? Did you uninstall the old drivers before installing the card? If you were using onboard graphics, did you go into the BIOS & disable it? Is the monitor cable connected to the new card? Did Vista automatically detect the new card & install drivers for it? I just checked the AMD/ATI site & they don't list Vista drivers for the Radeon 9000 - my guess is it's too old. That model isn't even supported by the "Legacy drivers".

Just let Windows install generic drivers & be done with it. Then start shopping for a new card.
