Your choices are all wrong!

Why are you buying from TigerDirect in the 1st place & why are you buying a refurbished Gateway? For one thing, it's a socket 754 system. Did you read the description? It has NO PCI-Express slots...I don't know where you're getting that from. It has 3 standard PCI slots (2 unused) & an AGP slot for the video card, so the video card you picked will NOT work.

Not to mention you're getting the wrong RAM (should be PC3200), & the monitor has a response time of 16ms so it's not good for gaming.

Roman, don't argue with Jam (he knows his stuff, trust me on this) Shop at NEWEGG, you will sleep better. Go to crucial.com, they can tell you the EXACT type of RAM for your system. Take a look at the MSI K8N NEO4 platinum MOBO at NEWEGG, it is a 939 socket board that has gotten great reviews and has a PCI-E slot for your card.

I thought I gave you a straight answer. The stuff you picked is wrong...they will NOT work together. And TigerDirect sucks. There are a lot of better vendors out there...Newegg, ZipZoomFly, & Outpost to name a few. I wouldn't buy a #2 pencil from TigerD...lol

"how do u find out the if the memory is compatiable with the computer?"

The system you chose came with 512MB PC3200...that should have given you a clue. You were gonna add PC2700...that would have hurt performance.

"well how about this comp will this work?"

Piece of crap eMachine with motherboard based on ATI Xpress chipset...it doesn't get much worse.

eMachines builds using low end crappy components. The 2nd eMachine you chose is just like the other...it's based on an ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 motherboard. Steer clear of all eMachines. If you're not capable of building your own, but you want a decent gaming rig, you're gonna have to pay for it. What the hell...you already plan on sinking another $300-400 into a brand new machine to upgrade it, so you obviously realize what you're looking at is inadequate right from the start!

well im not buying a emachine then and you could of easily told me to buy this but thx for explaining. instead of gettin the 7500 SE
i took the 6000SE no point the 7000 jus comes with a moniter maybe i mgiht get the moniter.
i used the system configuration and i degraded.
1.the 250 gig to a 200gig.
2.the video card from a geforce 6600 to a ATI Radeon Xpress 200 16X PCI-Express Shared 128MB Integrated 3D Graphics Video Card( i dont need the 6600 cuz im getting a 6800GT but does degrading the video card gonna do anything bad to my computer cuz im gettin a better video card.
3. and i took out the second optical drive. (no point if the first one can play everything)
4. so everything should be fine? since the mother board is better?
thx it totaled to around $725

Geez dude, I'm trying to help you out & you screwed up again! Did you compare the specs between the 2 systems?

Let me ask you this...how much does a 6800GT card cost? About $350 give or take? So instead of buying a $999 system with a decent 6600 video card AND LCD gaming monitor, you wanna buy a crappier $725 system, invest another $350 in a video card & still have no monitor? And how do you go about getting "ATI Radeon Xpress 200 16X PCI-Express Shared 128MB Integrated 3D Graphics Video" without getting a different motherboard? --- the answer is, you don't! And didn't I warn you about the ATI Xpress more than once in the above responses? If you choose that video option, the motherboard changes to the same crappy one used in eMachines. ATI Xpress 200 is not a video card at all, it's onboard graphics built into the motherboard...that's what "Shared 128MB Integrated" means.

I'd go with the Gamer Ultra 7500 SE, upgrade the motherboard to the Foxconn/Winfast for +$17, then choose cheaper speakers to make up for the board upgrade. Dumping one of the optical drives will save you a few bucks. And you could play with the case choice to save a few more bucks. Select a better keyboard/mouse (Logitech are nice & only a couple of bucks). And if you already own a copy of Windows, you can eliminate the OS & just go with a formatted HDD (-$60).

With the above tweaks, I got the price down to $911 & that includes the LCD 8ms gaming monitor! If you dump the monitor, the price is only $676!

ok so depending on the video card i pick to come with it changes the motherboard..ok. so instead of comming with a 6600 ill pick a 6800gt

the mother board you told me get is foxconn since motherboard really matters ill get the the best one i can get from the selection..
ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe nForce4 SLI Chipset SATA RAID Dual PCIE MB w/Gb-

i dont own a copy of microsoft xp so ill have to buy it from the list.

ditch the 2nd optical drive.

degrade the speakers

and ill play around with the cases they pretty much all look nice so no down side on that.

and get better keyboard/mouse.

keeping the lcd moniter.

wow im am a idoit...crappy emachine....crappy tigerdirect...

thx a bunch so the important desiosn are done? motherboard is good right? the one above in this post.

thx a bunch sorry you had to put up with me.

I haven't tried Windows XP64, but from what I've read, it's not good for gaming & there's not many drivers & whatnot available for it yet. Stick with WinXP...

"and should i get any cooling or just keep it a default?"

When looking at the different case choices, click on the "?" question mark on the right side...a window will pop up with the specs on the case. Look to see how many fans are included.

"and should the power supply be upgraded or default?"

That's a good question. It's hard to say without knowing what's in the case to begin with. When you click the "?" to find out how many fans are included, see if the PSU specs are listed. The PSU specs for the "HOT NEW! Xplorer Mid-Tower Case 420W W/ WINDOW & LCD Temperature Display (Black Case w/Black Face)" seem good...apparently the same one as used in the default case. The "X-BLADE II Mid-Tower 450W Watt w/ Side-Panel Window (BLACK COLOR)" case looks nice, but the PSU specs aren't listed...I don't know what a "Exclusive XBlade 450 Watts gaming power supply" is. I'd steer clear of the "TURBO X-DREAMER CASE 350 WATT W/ WINDOW & LCD Temperature Display" & the "ATX MEDIUM TOWER CASE 350 WATT". All the rest are more expensive.

I gave you my motherboard recommendation. Do you think you'll ever use the SLi feature & run two $300+ video cards at the same time? I doubt it.

You seeem to have a "woody" for the 6800GT...lol! Personally, I wouldn't do it, but it's your money. If you don't feel the 6600 has enough gaming power for you, I'd go with the 6600GT, possibly the X700Pro. Or the 6800 or X800...good cards but $100 cheaper. OR you could go with the default 6600, then sell it to a friend & upgrade it yourself.

Decisions, decisions....lol

well atleast im getting somewhere.

I think the 6800 GT will rip thru games.

the 6600 i lets say for example battle field 2 (because it needs a good video card) unless the 6600 can run bf2 on high settings i don't want it i wanna "play agem the way it was ment to be played"...lol

thx for your advice i guess ill stick the motherboard you gave me.

but that x800 looks like it'll get the job done!

lol....well thx oo wait one simple question what is over clocking thats like making it faster? should i overclock any of my stuff or could it do something bad? or will the chance of the system being overheated increase?

thx

Overclocking:

faster -yes
possible problems -yes
possible overheating - yes

But if done correctly, you can squeeze some extra speed out of your system for free.

I'd hold off on that though. Run the system in it's stock form for a while...get a feel for it, work the kinks out of it. In the meantime, do some research on overclocking. If the Foxconn/Winfast board is the one youre gonna go with, go some googling on it. The early reviews (6-8 months ago) were mixed, but since then, there have been BIOS updates that have addressed the problems. Another thing I read is that the motherboard chipset drivers should be downloaded from the nVidia website, rather than using the ones that come on the CD included with the motherboard. Hopely the guys at Cyberpower know these things & take care of them for you, if not, it's a fairly simple "fix"
