Comment:
System Shock 2 shuts off when starting a new game and viewing the intro on my WinXp. There is a supposed patch for this from http://www.brave.net.nz/shock2_xp_2000_fix.zip though I'm not sure if this is a reliable source because I've only seen one person post about it and no one replying that it was sucessful. Please help me determine if i can use this or an alternative.

Thanks

Yeah it is... though it seems promising. Though let me rephrase my query... I meant if it was reliable as in not containing a virus or something.

Thanks

Thanks for checking it out. I do have Norton AV, though I guess I was a bit skeptical. I'll try it out and see if it works, thanks again.

I'm sorry but that doesn't work for my version of the game. It's not the full cd version, but a free one from a abandonware/freeware game archive (www.theunderdogs.com). The winXp/2000 fix requires a cd... it's too much of a hassle using safedisc unwrappers (plus the fact that I might be tracked as doing an illegal operation... which I'm not). There is another possible solution by disabling hardware acceleration (I use a Radeon 9200), how may I do that? Thanks.
