I recently added a Diamond ATI HD 4850 video card to my existing Windows 7 computer that already includes an integrated ATI HD 3200 display adapter. The machine is configured as a low noise HTPC. I added the HD4850 for gaming, but it's a bit noisy and I'd like to be able flip to the HD 4850 only when I'm gaming. And, while using the HD 3200 have the HD4850 essentially turn itself off (of course the fan is my primary concern)... I know how configure the primary & secondary display in windows settings as well as the Catalyst Control Center (ATI's config app), but the HD 4850's fan won't turn off even when it's not the primary, and the HD3200 is configured as the only display to use (no extended desktop). I've even gone into the control panel and disabled the HD4850 and it's fan still runs. Is there something I'm missing?? Now, I did notice there's a power connector that plugs directly into 6 pin power that hooks up to the motherboard... Is there a way to config the fan speed to video load manually? I'd rather not have to reboot to switch adapters (turn off HD4850 in bios).. Appreciate assistance...
