I recently installed SWAT 4 on a couple of my computers. One of them is a Dell Dimensions 4550, with 768 MB RAM, 2.53 GHz, Nvidia Geforce MX 420. The other is a Compaq with 1.2 GHz, Nvidia Geforce MX 440 and 256 MB RAM.
The Dell has a 1-2 second delay when I press any key on the keyboard while ingame, In Windows or anyother app or game it's fine. The Compaq runs the game just fine, with no delay. I tried turning the graphics down, but seeing as the Compaq will run it with high graphics, it can't be a graphics problem because the Dell out-performs the Compaq by far. I tried reinstalling the game but that didn't help. I haven't tried a different keyboard because to me it can't be the keyboard because it works fine in any other application or game.
Anyone seen this before, or have any suggestions to a fix.

"Compaq will run it with high graphics, it can't be a graphics problem because the Dell out-performs the Compaq by far. "
Dell has MX 420 vs Compaq has MX 440... The MX 420 may have 64-bit memory interface vs MX 440 have 128-bit, so if that is the case. Dell is actually slower than the compaq in games... Anyways, are you using a wireless keyboard for your dell? If not, then go to control panel -> keyboard and change the repeat delay rate from long to shortest.. See if that solves the problem, if not then I suggest try another keyboard to ensure the problem is not caused by the keyboard itself... If that still does not solves the problem, then my guess would be either the power supply is having problem or the keyboard plug from the motherboard or motherboard itself has problem...

It's not a wireless keyboard. I'll try what you suggest and get back to you.

I took the CPU out of one of my Gateway boxes, which is a 2.60 GHz with HTT, and switched it with the 2.53 that was in my Dell, and also switched the video cards in my Dell and Compaq, and now my Dell works fine. The weird thing is, is that the Compaq also works fine, so it's obviously was not the video card. I was just wondering if anyone knew what else it could have been.
