Hey guys!

I'm currently wanting to build an amd rig and looking to spend $1200. I have some ideas but would like some of your opinions.
I want to be able to do some heavy gaming if that feeling arrises in my blood!! I heard the video card i chose was a very good mid-ranged card...

Heres what I've came up with so far and none of it is set in stone..

CPU - AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Winchester socket 939

CPU HEATSINK & FAN - Thermaltake Venus 12

MOBO - Abit AV8 AMD 64 K8T800 Pro Socket 939

CASE - ThermalRock Dragon Black/Silver RH-M020-1SW

PSU -Thermaltake W0013 Silent Purepower 480W

HDD - Maxtor 200GB HDD w/ SATA-II and NCQ

Floppy Drive - SONY Model MPF920 Black

Video Card - XFX 6600GT

RAM - OCZ Performance Series pc3500 1GB (512x2)

Need some suggestions for monitors and optical drives.
Would like the ability to burn cd/dvd's.

Thanks and give me some ideas!! :P

I'd do an Nforce4 ultra or SLI based motherboard for better performance and to do PCI-E for hyour graphics card.

Seagate and Hitachi are more reliable than Maxtor at the moment.

For optical drives, Lite On's are good, you can gegt a DVD dual layer and format for about $65 shipped.

Newegg.com has a samsung 17" LCD for about $225 shipped after rebate. 12ms response time, so it's pretty good for gaming.

Go with an nForce based board & PCI-E video card. And why not get the retail CPU that comes with it's own HSF & 3 yr warranty, instead of plunking down $40+ for the Tt Venus?

Asus Ti4800SE 128MB
