Ok. This is really wierd. Recently, whenever I play a game, it will work for a while (5 minutes or so), and then all of a sudden it will slowly slow down to a halt, and the sound will get all choppy, it will freeze for a few seconds (10 or so) and then it will pick up again like nothing is wrong, and then repeat. This now happens with games I know that work. I beat Jedi Knight 2 the whole way through, and never had a problem, but now when I play the game, the slowdown happens. The same is with Stepmania, Quake, Black and White, Risk II, I was even playing Flash Flash Revolution, which is a flash game, and I got the same slowdown and choppy sound. I've updated my drivers, installed updates, checked for viruses, removed spyware, stopped startup programs, I even formatted my hard drive, and the same thing happens. Everything worked fine last year before winter break, and now everything is quirky. All other programs work. It only seems to happen with games. In case you were wondering, my video card is a Nvidia TNT2 M64. I have a 1.5 GHz P4 and 1.25 GB of Ram. Anyone have any idea as to what the problem is?

the same thing happens to me now, I have no idea... I have a Radeon 9800SE soft modded to a pro using Omega drivers, never had a problem until the last few weeks. Games will get serious system lag for like 2 minutes and then return to normal and get crap again... when they run correctly they run great... nobody has really given me any ideas or advice as to what the problem is. I reinstalled my current drivers, uninstalled them and installed older drivers, nothing works to fix it.. so I'm really not sure if it's software or hardware.

hey i have a similiar problem but instead of it going back to normal, my games wont work period. they will get to main menu and freeze.

heres more detail:

Every game that used to work fine on my pc, and those that i just bought(anywhere from 1998 to 2004) have decided now to not work. i install and they either work for 2 seconds and freeze PC or dont work at all.

when i check my windows task manager- isee that whatever game is on, that its taking a large chunk of my system memory (anywhere from 91 through 200plus mb).

Heres my system:
asus a7n8x deluxe
512mb DDR
integrated sound, lan(3COm LAN, AC97 Sound)
dual Maxtor 5400rpm 60gb
hp9100 series CDRW
innuvision Tornado Ti4200 with 120mb DDR memory
Athalon XP 2000+
PC Power and Cooling 510watts

Why is my Inno3d Tornado Ti-4200 not doing its job ? all of these games have worked before fine. and i also recently formatted computer to see if that would fix it, but nope. and i updated all the drivers. (though these games worked fine when i had updated drivers before).

thank you for any help in this matter.
