ok so what about this guys. i know a lot of you feel as if the raptor is a waste of cash but I do have a nice seagate saved on my wish list that I may switch too before placing this order. The artic cooler is here because I do plan on overclocking this thing a good amount and im a better safe then sorry sort of individual. The OCZ ram has the lowest latency ive ever seen and its very reasonable on the price tag. The burner I found for a great price and I just like the lightscribe technology. no more sharpie printing on my disks. The vid card im little skeptical about, not sure if its going to be the best pick but i do have some alternative cards saved for consideration. You guys have been great about picking my junk apart so far so dont stop now. have at it fellas

Thanks
Lunchbox

I would go for a better graphic card like 7800/7900 GS or GT series...

Tom's Hardware just did an article about RAM timings. Read it over. I think you'll find that tight timings aren't all they're cracked up to be. Better to invest in a video card than expensive RAM:

http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/03/31/tight_timings_vs_high_clock_frequencies/page10.html

The A64 doesn't really need exotic cooling, the stock unit is sufficient, even for overclocking...plus using it will preserve the 3 yr warranty. I don't agree with the Raptor choice, but it's your money.

Where's the PSU?

stock 500w comes with the tower.

Like I said though I do got my eye on a nice seagate 200gb HD 7200rpm sata drive just in case I change my mind, the raptor is a fair amount more expensive. Thats why im here though, im not trying to annoy everyone and I appologize if I have I just want to make sure I get what I need. In the end 2g's can go a long way and ive allocated that much for the machine so I dont have a problem with spending that much as long as im getting 2g's worth of performance

I looked at that case on neweg, and it doesnt show a power supply..and even if it did come with one, it probably wouldnt cut it..i agree 100% with jam about the ram too..get some g.skill pc3200 and invest what you save on a 7800/7900 series card, you won't be sorry..if i were you, i'd look at the larger (around 320gb) western digital sata 3.0gb/s drives..theyre fast, large, and much more reasonably priced

I agree as well on the RAM. Its not worth it. Save the money. And even Corsair Value RAM won't hurt.

Dump that Video Card and get a 7900GT!

Don't depend on the PSU that comes with the case. Make sure you get a good dependable one. Like one that is SLI ready.

Thats a good monitor. I have two similar.

Save your money on that HDD. Wow, they're expensive. Go for a cheaper one and spend the money elswheres.

Thats a GREAT motherboard. But I disagree with most here and think if I was you, I would go SLI. SLI boards are not expensive anymore. In many cases a good SLI board can be cheaper than one that is not SLI. To me its an option that you should not pass up! In the future, if you need to upgrade your video card, it is cheaper to buy another cheaper video card than to upgrade with the more expensives one's. For example, my 6800GT's can outperform a single 7800GT.

Last but not least. I agree that a standard cooling system will suffice.

Game on!

Just a side note on the cooling, the water cooling may not be a bad idea, i have noticed on the majority of A64 systems that the stock cooling is DAMN noisy, mixed with the PSU fan and a couple of case fans and you got one noisy SOB! I had to fit a fan controller in mine to turn it down when idle,..

Go with a better videio card. The 7900GT would be ideal.

I'm also not a fan of HP burners. Lite On and NEC are better.

And I still don't think the Raptor is worth it. If you want better disk i/o, get a second drive, and run your apps off it. 2 spindles are better than one.

the raptors are okay but noisy. but you should get a better video card, like a, what'd they say? 7900GT?
