Space Empires Star Fury crashes.

The game crashes after I select the name of the ship and captain and the load bar indicator moves from left to right reaching 100 then the indicator immediately drops to 92. I have the latest drivers on my sound and video card and the latest game patch (ver. 1.15). All my other games run fine. My Video card is a 3DFORCEFX Ultra 5200 Diamond Edition. The game techs have not been able to help. Any genuises out there, please help.
