Gigabyte makes some really nice AMD 939 and 940 boards based on the Nforce 3 chipset. I would look into one of those.

Sorry if this is a bit late. The temptation for a mATX/uATX (and yes, those are both abbreviations for Micro-ATX) form factor socket-939 motherboard is very very high... It would mean a computer that is both faster and smaller than your friends' computers, and you should be able to do it without worrying too much about cost.

As mentioned in this thread, FIC of Taiwan is planning their KTMNF3-Ultra, which is a micro-ATX implementation of the nForce 3 Ultra chipset for socket 939 cpus. FIC should really get around to sending a sample to AMD so that AMD can put them on their recommended motherboards list.

MSI has also entered the game. While we all kind of know MSI as the second-best corporation in graphics cards and motherboards, they seem to be the only major chain making a Socket 939 uATX motherboard. You can find reviews galore by googling MS7093 or MS-7093. But you may have trouble finding more about it, because its product number changed! MSI's new name for it is the RS480M2-IL.

The FIC board has an AGP slot, the MSI board has a PCI-Express slot, just as a word to the wise. The MSI board will be available from Monarch Computer, shipping from them starts December 29th. Nobody else has registered their plans to sell either board yet on pricewatch.com...
