hello,i need help in regards to getting more fps in games for example when i play the game''C&C renegade/everyother game to, ,im only getting 20-35fps on average..first i will start with my specs...

Intel Celeron 2.80Ghz (socket 478) FC-PGA2 , L1 8kb L2 128KB
120GB maxtor 7200rpm(296kb bad sectors)
40GB seagate 7200rpm
DVD drive
CD drive
1024 PC3200 DDR RAM (400mhz)
Nvidia Geforce 6600GT (AGP 8x) all drivers are updated.
Nvidia settings are as follows
antialising:OFF
antistropic:OFF
image settings:HIGH PERFORMANCE
vsync:OFF
my power supply is 200w,im not too sure if thats got anything to do with it.
what i dont see is for all the games i buy the requirements are way beyond my cpu but they show really slow performance.
i have done a fresh install of xp,installed drivers and and the same performance issues..
do not know what to do...
if you can help me in anyway , that would be much appreciated...

Thanks in advanced

wow that game is old, even my geforce 5500 can handle the high setting. i think your PSU is bit low man, only 200W.

Well, i don't know much about the game you are talking about, but 20-35fps is usually good fps.
The "problem" is that your system's specs are not the greatest, so turning options down in your game as you see fit would give you more fps.
In regards to performance, your ram and video card are up to the task for most games. an obvious bottleneck in your system would be the cpu celerons are really bad for games, get a pentium 4:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819116175
its $107 with free shipping, i would highly reccomend it if you plan on doing any gaming, and don't want to buy a new machine.
Also, look into the power supply because 200 watts isn't enough to power a p4 let alone a 6600gt, in fact i don't know how you go the gt to run by itself. (look for 400-450 watts)
I would also like to assure you that i am not just saying this because thats what i am supposed to say. I currently own a celeron and a video card much worse than yours (32mb pci) and i know the frustrations of buying a game and not running it fast even thought your computer wayy exceeds the requirements. Honestly, every game should have their minnimum requirements as their reccomended requirements. i.e. my computer should be able to run doom but it would chock at the sight of it.
Good luck if you choose to upgrade, that p4 would slaughter that celeron and make you wish you would have never heard the term "celeron" (not like you already don't)

I respectfully disagree. Although the p4 is by far a better cpu, to say that a celeron is really bad for games is a stretch.

I currently run a celeron D 2.53ghZ (overclocked to 2.77ghZ) with the exact same graphics card and ram. I play FEAR, Doom3, King Kong etc. all on high with no AA or AF and all play smooth with only hiccups during quick saves.

I would check the +12volt rail on your psu if it's not at least 15A then update it. 18A is Reccomended for the 6600gt. I use 300W psu with 15A +12volt and have not had a problem (yet!).

Also did you connect the supplemental power adapter to the video card? I don't know that it will run if you didn't but like Rax said his 5500 could handle that game, so theres definately a problem.

Although I can't wait to upgrade to p4 I have been very impressed with the performance of my $69 cele D combined with the 6600gt.

im talking about all games...not just that one...yes i have connected the power to the card correctly i will give u my voltages

+12=11.776
+5 =4.919
+3 = 3.312
vcore =1.494>(when the cpu is in action)<-1.534-not much action.
oh my psu is 14A so that must be the problem?
what i will do is get a new PSU 450w...and hopefully that should fix the problem...there will be no point in me getting the s478 p4 HT until i get a better power supply...
and also my psu say +3.3v and +5v is (105w max)

that game is old, the 1st time i played that game when i was using geforce 3 with an AMD Athlon 900mhz PC, and it worked fine, just tiny bit lag in online game. with geforce 5500 or higher, you can set the setting all to high with no problem. you need a better PSU.

Ok, you need to run 3DMark 03 and check that against other 6600GT, sounds like it could be bad drivers / agp power
