so look I'm building this monster and spent alot of money so far. Do I need to shoot my dog for SLI to work or take out the trash or mow yard what what what , I'm getting to the point just 1 sec plz. lol ok I have GA-K8NXP-SLI motherboard and like to know can I install 2 video cards like the 2 slotted monster cards 512mb on my motherboard or do I have to get 2 video card 1 slot version to run SLI and if so can you plz tell me which card. I have a water cooled case and like to water cool video card but what I need to know is can I have 2-2 slotted cards or 2-1 slotted cards is really all I asking. Thanks Alot

Some boards have the pci-e slots separated enough to run two of the monster cards. That one looks like they are close together though. You probably can only run the normal size cards.
Besides that I would think you would only want one "monster card". Having 2 is just overkill unless you're using extremely high resolutions.
DX10 will also be out soon.

I have the same motherboard but never gave that any thought. I can't think of why it would not support those monster cards unless like Gengis says its a space issue. Frankly, I think the 512mb Video cards are waste of money if all you're doing is gaming. BUT I might pay for it just so I could tweak it. What does Gigabyte say? I've actually got answers from them before.

Heroedge I took out my tape measure and got 1 1/2 inches. from 1 pci express slot to the next pci express slot I am hoping for 2 monster cards of 512mb water cooled. I measure a pci card ANY to see how thick it was it was 3/4 thick so 3/4 + 3/4 = 1 1/2 inches that is cutting it very close from what I got even if I could get 2 monster cards in it not leaving room to breathe. But lets say I can use 2 cards will I be able to water cool them is the next question. I guess I rather water cool my cards since I have a water cooled system so 1 or 2 slot really don't matter as long as I can water cool both of them.

Hope I didn't forget anything but that is my system I have been building for the past year hope to have it up in running soon :)

Wow! Did you have to get a second mortgage for all of that? :)
I wish I had my computer sitting in front of me at this moment but I live about 80% of the year in China. I have a K8N-SLI on my computer here in China. Theres not too much difference between the two.
I think you're right. Its going to be a tight fit and with NO room for Water cooling. For that matter, not much ventilation between the two cards. That is one of my complaints about ATX SLI Mobos. They cram as much as possible onto the motherboards. It is also widely known that when you're overclocking, you keep your eye on the top card because it is the one that usually gets the hottest due to insufficient air flow. So you might have to have a Rolls Royce Turbo Prop Fan to keep them cool. LOL!
Lets say, if you have AMPLE CASE COOLING and a good PSU, these cards are made to cool themselves with their HSF even in SLI. So without doing all the research that you need to do, I think it should work okay without the Water Cooling. To get water cooling to the cards you might want to talk to Thermaltake. I'm not sure if its possible without major modding including the Mobo.

As for your monitor(s):

You're going to be one of those 2ms/1000:1 20" minimum LCD type guys.
:)
With this killer system, why did you go with 4X512mb RAM? 2gb and room for 2 more would be par. You will lose some slight performance (1-2%, some say up to 7%) by going this route.

at the time went I bought my memory that was the top of line 512mb wished I had waited it is compatible with my GA-K8NXP-SLI motherboard. as far as the water cooling video card I found a few nice things on that this 1 I am hoping for comes with LED lights

as far as going online to all the comp websites I think I been to all of them been doing for over 1 year everyday lol some are real nice and others are real cheesy :) I hope to not have to upgrade for a very long time plus some of the things I have , have life time warranty. I had 2 other comps both HP a piece of well I'm not going to say any more all I know is I will put in my new system what I need and only what I want in it. If you don't have the money all up front then do what I did buy 1 or few pieces at a time when you have money and do alot of research and 1 day you'll be done I started about 13 months ago only have a few more things to buy before I can start building it I can't wait.Thank Heroedge

Hey Bam. I noticed one more thing about your system I would add. You have to HDD's so I am assuming you are going to go with RAID 0. I know I don't have to express to you the risk of having RAID 0. And I assume you have a back up plan. However I don't see a back up plan. With my RAID 0 I have another WD 250gb Corsair. I've even thought about buying another one and having these two drives mirror the two Raptors. :)
For another computer I have a USB storage device. It really sucks to have to download updates, drivers, mods, patches, etc. again when something happens to your drives. :)Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI

Heroedge I thought I use 1 of my Raptor drives for system and the other for stuff I want on it like movies music updates so on....ect. I was thinking about buying a 3rd drive but didn't think I need it . Do I need a 3rd drive after all I do have 150mb for system 150mb for whatever what do you think. I have 1 more room for 1 more HDD on my I-Box rack from Thermaltake that came with my case I would have liked to water cool my HDD but the I-Box won't let me do that if you know of a water cooler that will work with I-Box let me now lol :)

No you don't need anthoer HDD unless you're going RAID 0. My bad. It was an assumption that you was. That is what I have. It hauls @#%.
Purchasing 2 150 gb (BTW...Typo on your thread 150gb not 150mb) Raptors is one thing but water cooling them. What the heck for? I can't think of any reason you would want to unless you just want the look? But even then, when people would look at it they would ask, "why, were you high"? :)Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI
