I suggest you start doing some research on these things. You're obviously in way over your head with this build. And you never answered my question about your specs...

"P4 D - 2.66GHz
1024MB DDR2 RAM
ASUS A8N-SLI Motherboard"

Something is definitely wrong with the above. The A8N-SLI is a S939 board, so it doen't support a P4...it also doesn't support DDR2 RAM. So either you listed the wrong board, or the wrong CPU/RAM. Or maybe the specs are fictitious?

Easy explanation of single vs dual channel mode:

Single channel mode - 2 x 512MB PC3200 = 1GB PC3200

Dual channel mode - 2 x 512MB PC3200 = 1GB PC6400

I starting a new thread to awnswer your question, j/k...lol

"whats the difference"

theoretically double the bandwidth, being as *dual* means a seperate path (two), to each memory controller (ie one can read while the other writes)

I can beat that...

"about 34,200 from computing.net for "name: jam""

And that only takes into account my registered name. Before registration was necessary, I posted under at least 2 other names...LMAO!
