Hi. I have sims 2 and it works fine. I bought an expansion for it the Nightlife, i installed it but when it reaches the last part of installation it needed me to insert the 1st disk then it launches a white picture sims2 nightlife and after a while it reports an error saying:
Copy and paste here the error that coresponds with the date and time of one of these errors contained in your application log. The Application log is found in Computer Management -> Event Viewer.
Please help survivors of Hurricane Katrina...err...Rita. Starting to lose track...
I asked the moderator to compare your IP to others who have posted here. It's gonna be pretty clear who you are, and if say...oh...I dunno...you like to play System Shock 2...stuff like that...
thanks guys.. updated my videocard driver from nvidia.com but its not digitally signed. it still didnt work till i downloaded a mini-image and mounted it but new errors occured...

it also says that nv"SOMETHING".dll causes the problem. havent updated my MB chipset drivers yet is that necessary and where do i get it. my MB is ASUS P4S533-MX and video card is Geforce FX5200.
its an image file of a cd. can be mounted using daemon tools(virtual drive) so i dont have to use the cd to play the game.. i dont think it has to do w/ the errors. the game launches but cannot load the neighborhood.
kinda an obvios questiion but have you tried uninstalling the game then re-installing it (deleting all the folders in the mydowcuments/ea games and programfiles/ea games directories, as well as cleaning out your registry of any left over traces).
mini images - basically there the new way of having a no cd crack, I personally don't enjoy whipping out the cd everytime I want to play either but please respect this forums rules and reframe from talking about any cracks here.

(Nothing to do with your problem) Might wanna do a full spyware, antivirus, worm, trogen horse scan after visting any of those sites you used to obtain an mini-image. It appears that you are indeed puter-savy enough to have adequate knowledge on that matter though.
(Regrading your problem) Being as nightfire is an expansion pack, it might do you some good to get a patch, just a guess.
P.S. any body seen jam latly, I know hes not a (hardcore)gamer, but he might have some tricks up his sleeve to troubleshoot this prob.
You are now reading my sig, this is not part of my post.
Never heard of it referred to as a "mini-image" before. I expected it was a CD virtual image.
The error concerning IPSec is coincidental and unrelated.
The print spooler looks like you have either a local or network printer the system can't find anymore. Unrelated...
The 1003 error is...
100000ea = "THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER_M"
This traces down to either a bad driver or faulty hardware. Most likely culprits: video or sound, and I'd say it's probably video. It could also be something in Sims2 is causing this error.
yes i think its the video card.. error report says:
The driver display device was unable to complete a drawing operation. Please check with the device manufacturer for a driver update. Please tell microoft about this problem. The display driver for NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 seeems to be responsible for the system instability
tried updating my video card driver (versions 66.93, 77.72, 77.77, 78.01). still the same. i can play the tutorial but it cant load the any neighboorhood (pleasnt view, etc.) anymore ideas, other than buying a new vidoe card? this graphics model really is always giving me a headache. thanks for the help.
It's not your video card, it's the driver! Apparently you're not installing it correctly...do not install the new drivers from safe mode. Uninstall the old drivers 1st...when you reboot, stop Windows from reinstalling the drivers & do it manually, but make sure to follow these hints about disabling Anti-virus & download accelerator programs before doing the install.
Personally, I would bring up Windows Task Manager > Processes tab & "end process" anything connected to my username, except for explorer.exe & taskmgr.exe, TEHN install the drivers
ASUS A7N8X-X Athlon XP 1800+ 8.5 x 200MHz 1024MB PC3200 2.5-3-3-7 Asus A9550GE/TD 128MB WinME/WinXP Pro SP2
It could be the card is bad, but you must ensure you are installing the drivers properly. Changing the card won't do you any good if you still don't install the drivers correctly. As Jam is saying, follow the vendor's documentation - down to the last letter!
tried that already jam, thanks for the help guys. i sorted out the problem its my bios setting for AGP/Graphics Aperature Size it was set at 4MB(preferred bios setting from manual), i changed it to 64MB and it works fine now. thanks again for the time.
Yea, glad to hear you finally got it straightened out. I think I would go with 128MB for the aperture setting though. Tom's Hardware just did an article on BIOS settings:
i've another problem, I CANT GO TO WORK, when the pool car arrives for me, i put go to work and it doesn't go!! i put in my own car and i cant go, does someone know why? stefano
You guys are totally awesome. All I did was search the error in google and this popped up, thank god someone had the same problem as me--I thought it was the cd.
