This is usually a sign that your card is getting too hot, is your case properly ventilated? Have you cleaned the dust out of your system recently? Is the graphics card fan (if it has it's own) spinning freely?

ATI Radeon X1300 IS the make/model. As stated above, it's possible the card is overheating due to dust buildup. If it has a cooling fan, make sure it's working.

The fan?

If it has a fan, then, while your computer is running, check to make sure it's spinning at a decent speed.

Some fans just get gummed up with dust and other junk that they spin, but not at a sufficient speed.

Lol, yeah, compressed air.

It's a good idea to clean your system out on a regular basis anyway.

It *should work properly after you're done, but something may be faulty in your system so there's no guarantee's.

Removing the fans isn't necessary or recommended unless you know what you're doing, just use the can of compressed air to blow around/through them. And make sure to get the heatsinks on your motherboard, CPU and video card as well.

Nope, not necessary. But make sure that your fans have a clear path to exhaust the heat.

Update the drivers first and make sure it's not overheating.

But this is typical for ATi junk. One game everything will run fine, than the next... well you see what happens.

This is actually a known graphics problem with the Sims 3. On some PC's it's worse that others, but everyone seems to be having this problem. It's probably something like the incredible stretching toddler. They used adult animations for the todders to socialise and watch television so they undergo a freakish body change when socialising. The game needs a patch, so you can do what I've done (but this is only on the sims themselves for me) just go to Edit Town and see if that clears it, or if it's a sim, have them change clothes.

Okay, I've done a wee bit of research. Based on the other games that ajamasin is having this problem with, I'd venture to say it's a pixel shader issue. I know that it happens with the Sims 3 and both Godfather II and Dawn of Discovery require pixel shader enabled graphics cards to run. Try saving, leaving and returning. Again, this does happen to me and if you check the forums it is happening to a lot of other people. It looks like it might be the graphics card but more specifically pixel shader being used in the game. I don't know much about this program. This happens to me but it's rare and completely intermittant. If this is happening to you constantly it's time to check your card temps while running the game and make sure you don't have a failure occurring.

if you are using an ATI graphic card then just restore the default
factory setting of the catalyst control center and it will all be
good ^^

The catalyst control center is the program that comes with
the ati, if u installed the drivers from the cd then it should be
there. the red icon with ATI logo.
just start the program, go to preferences and chose to restore
factory default.
Another way i have figured strangely when u load the
game and start playing; it shows u the triangles right, i just
minimized the game( windows key +m ) then restored it and it
works fine. so i am not really sure what the problem is but that
works with me.
