Sims 3 Crashing

Electronic arts The sims 3 (pc/mac)

Specs: Windows Vista, 3GB
I installed the game, It runs fine, I make Sims fine, moved in, but then when it starts at their house and I click for my Sim to do something like walk or talk or anything at all they just jump to the mail box and get stuck there, then they don't move or do anything! And if I go into buy mode the game just shuts down. Whats going on??? How do I fix this?? Help please!

I have a 2.0 processor and on the Sims 3 site it says for vista you should have a 2.4, would this really shut down the entire game? I just thought it would make it go slower... Besides that I exceed all the other requirements.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game twice. I have all the patches for it. I don't know what else to do.

The graphics don't look weird at all so I really don't think it's my graphics card... I'm not sure which one I have but it's a NVidia one.

Is the Sims 3 the only problem?

Burn / boot off that disk, let it do a couple of passes. Bad bit's in memory produces symptoms not much unlike a virus (corrupted files).

Yes, as far as I can tell. The rest of my computer runs fine...

What version update are you currently using. Although Jam gave a smart remark about blaming the game on previous posts, in this case you can as there have been problems with game updates and the Sims 3 Launcher not working properly on many systems despite meeting the minimum requirements. Firstly though, what is your graphics card? It is likely you have update 1.4.6 or something like this. Not to point you away from this site, but has many solutions for people dealing with soft crashes. As you can actually get into and use the game but your Sims are just standing there (which became an issue for most users after the installation of patch 1.3 and above) and crashing occurs after certain actions, this might be a patch issue. Could you give me your full system specs though including your graphics card?
