sims 3 - cant play

August 22, 2009 at 09:40:14
Specs: Windows XP Home SP2
I need help, every time I try to play Sims 3 my
computer freezes after around 5 minutes. I
checked the system requirements and I think
my comp spec should be ok. What should I
do? Many thanks

I know this is just going to send you someplace else, but the Sims 3 has caused soft crashes on quite a few PC's, even if they meet the system requirements. has a technical forum where most of these have been discussed and problems have been found for quite a few of the issues people were having.

Are you able to load the game at all? See if it helps to close the EADM (you'll see it down in your task bar) before you play. It will tell you the Sims 3 needs it, but it doesn't. This is just for downloading and uploading but the game should function without it. You should also see if you can get at least another mg of ram on your system. The Sims franchise is famous for needing far more ram than the system requirements say and it's usually a good idea to have roughly twice as much as the box states.

Hopefully this helps.
