At a guess, your onboard graphics card may not be helping. The memory will be part of it, though. I have a 2.4 processor and 512mb ram, and even with that the game ran slowly until I got a decent graphics card.

The Sims 2 might have 'minimum system specs' on the box, but in reality for the game to run AND look good, you need a lot more.

Bobby,

Apparently you are not paying that much attention to the posts you're confirming. Secondly you need some more HTML tutorials, but more importantly doublecheck your posts before confirming them.

Uh, psycho, no offense, but try suggesting something a little better that that. I mean, will that really run the Sims2 well? It'll run the sims2 OK, but maybe not anything newer that that. It's kinda old. I mean, look at the price! Sure, it's inexpensive, but that tells ya something. How about a 9600, it's a considerable improvement over the 9500. Or better yet- a GeForce FX 5600?
Compjake: I highly recommend upgrading your motherboard. Something that will support at least an Athlon XP 2500 or higher. And make sure it doesn't have onboard video, but instead an AGP8x port. If you're going nVidia, shoot for a FX 5600, they're pretty cheap on pricewatch.com.
