sims 2 installation

Specs: Windows XP
every time i put the cd in it will go to 14 percent and say the voice box media..........how can i fix this i had it working before but it was messing up so i uninstalled

How did you uninstall it? I'm not trying to be smart by the way. EA and the Sims games require that you use their uninstall feature and not the uninstall feature on the control panel. If you used the uninstall feature on your computer and not the game itself, pieces of the previous Sims 2 installation will still be on your system. Go to www.modthesims.com and look for a tutorial on manual uninstallation of the game. If the last uninstallation was incomplete, this will help you find all of the missing pieces, usually registry entries but follow the instructions very carefully. Messing in your registry is something you should do only as instructed or you could destroy something in your PC. I have followed these instructions after a failed installation and they worked perfectly. Give it a shot and let me know if it helps.

thanks for the help but still same problem it says tsdata\res\sound\voice5.package........then a pop up box says its having a problem pulling it from the media any help ???thanks

www.modthesims.com might still be able to help you as they have quite a bit of game problem solving on the site. I also found this link with someone who was getting the same message.

Odd that even after complete uninstallation of the game you're still having a problem. Hopefully this helps.
