I bought the sims 2 game and really wanna play it. when i got into the installation its says i have DirectX 9.0b installed and i need DirectX 9.0c to continue installation and its says do u want to download it now as it come on the cd.
I click yes nd it comes up unable install DirectX 9.0c and gives a site and says download it here. then the installation stops. i go to microsoft to download it and when im installing it, its says a error about a cabinet file necessary for installation cannot be trust and then goes on to say installation failed.

this means i cant install the sims game as i need DirectX 9.0c. I have tried to download Windows XP service pack 2 but it dont work either for me and the DirectX 9.0c redistributed pack doesnt work either.

there seems to be no way i can download DirectX 9.0c so i cant play Sims.

But does anybody no a solution or can help.

order the SP2 cd from M$$'s site, free of charge, free shipping too, SP2 has DX9.c in it

We only buy hardware so we can run software on it.

that would be Microsoft's site.

are u getting an error message from the site when M$$ is scanning ur puter for needed updates?

if so try this:

start > run > services.msc

automatic updates > set to automatic

Background Intelligent Transfer Service > set to manual

Application Layer Gateway Service > set to manual

restart puter then see if you can now update your system.

We only buy hardware so we can run software on it.

There is a problem with WindowsXP. U have to get a DirectX uninstaller. Go to google and search for it. I was also getting the same problem as yours. But i reformat my whole PC and reinstall it. I know its not the best way but its the fastest i can think about. Before this i used WindowsXP SP2 then degrade to WindowsXP SP1 and try to install DirectX9c. The installation was a successfull. Then i can play FullSpectrumWarrior and Sims2 with ease.

I cant install windows xp service pack 2 because the files from more sp1 are missing or damaged or have been replaced i think ( well thats wat pops up on startup). So its says to insert the sp1 cd to replace those files and i download but I couldnt install windows service pack 1 because when i downloaded it, it started to extract and then when that finished it opens up a window to start installing then it says

" could not verify the intergrity of the file update.inf. make sure the cryptographic service is running on this computer"

Now someone tell me what the hell that means please thankyou becuase i have no idea,:(
thanks for the help so far.

When I installed the Sims 2 ( a birthday present) i was told that I had Direct x 8.1 (or something) and it asked if i wanted to install Direct x 9.0 so i sed yes. When i clicked launch game, it started, then stopped for about 3 secs, then sed i needed Direct x 9.0, i was annoyed because i thought that i had just installed it! So i uninstalled it, then reinstalled it and did it all again, and it doesnt work. I am only 13 so am not a technical wizard (or should that be witch?? :D) and i dont want to have to buy anything as my not so rich dad spent 40-50 pounds on this, and i just want to play it. My friend didnt have this problem when she installed it...
