Hi I have a Toshiba laptop with a ATI Radeon 7000 graphics card installed. When i play the Sims 2 the game constantly crashes and when i re-load windows it always says it was the display driver that was the problem. I have tried re-installing the drivers but nothing seems to solved the problem.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Of course it crashes all the time! You have an ATI graphics card. They suck royally! Besides, that card is too old to run The Sims2, and Toshiba's suck pretty bad too. Also, laptops are generally not gaming and/or 3D applications machines. So, chuck that junk for an Athlon system (Pentiums suck for games too) with a GeForce FX if you plan on playing games, especially a newer game like The Sims2. Yeah. Radeons have compatability and stability problems, so stay away from that trash if you value your life! I mean, if you want to play The Sims2...

Mitch, Ati makes some of the best cards on the market.
Anyway the video card he has "should" be able to Run the game. your card is non-T&L compatable but your processor is more than 2.0ghz but possibly becuase its a laptop its not compatable. Like i said it should run but dont count on it running smoothly. Just double check you have the latest drivers for all your hardware. And check if there is a patch for the game.http://thesims2.ea.com/help/detail.php?help_id=21
also the FX series are slowly starting to get outdated. For about the same price of a FX5900xt you can get a Geforce 6600GT and it kicks the crap out of it.

Hi Robbie
Thanks for the only useful information do you know where i can get the patch from?
I bought my newish laptop specifically to play the game and was told that is would run it fine so im annoyed if it wont run.
Unfortuantely i dont have the luxury of just going out and replacing my laptop with a new one and also you cant upgrade cards in laptops either so im pretty stuck apart from either a new driver or a patch being released to solve radeon problems.

The easiest way to find it is do a google search for "sims 2 patch" or something similar.
BTW, there is nothing wrong with Radeon cards. The 7000 is pretty old which may be the reason you're having problems running the game.
Don't worry about some of the responses you get here. A general rule is ignore any advice from someone who uses the word "sucks" to describe something. Probably a child.
