Evening guys

Just a quick question. I recently purchased SimCity 4 and was looking forward to playing it. Only trouble is that it runs really slow on this machine. This is really confusing as my system exceeds the system requirements as the game is a couple years old.
Tried it will all the eye-candy turned off. Disconnected from the internet and disabled anti-virus/firewall and all other processes. Set SimCity affinity to run on 1 processor core only and also tried increasing its priority in task manager. The system is clean of spyware/virus. I also turned of AA on my graphics card as apparently it doesnt support it. All video card drivers are upto date and i have downloaded the patch for the game (thanks to Catalyst for providing profiles!!)

Have had no other problems with this computer with any other games.

Can anybody provide some clues as to what i have missed as google has returned to answers.
System specs are details below.

Thanks in advance
D

Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3P
Intel Core 2 Duo E6420
2x1Gb Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800Mhz
Sapphire x1950Pro
160Gb Seagate Baracuda
500W FSP Bluestorm PSU

Audio is built into the motherboard ; Realtek HD Audio.
All motherboard drivers are upto date (inc audio and chipset drivers - dont' have driver numbers handy atm)
Neither the CPU or graphics card has been overclocked.
The game has had the latest patches aswell.
