I'm having a problem where everytime I install and run any game, my computer will shut off randomly after about 10 minutes of play. I've never had this problem when doing anything else on my computer, games just seem to trip my system. What should I do to correct this problem? My system is as follows:

Processor: AMD 64 x2 dual core 2.41 GHz
Ram: 2047 MB
Power supply: 600 watt ATX
Graphics card: e-GeForce 8800 GTS

Could be several things such as a bad PSU or overheating cpu.

Have you checked the event viewer to see if there is any error?

Insanity is doing the same thing over & over & expecting different results. Now unplug it & wait a few minutes & plug it back in and see if it works

OS: Vista Premium?!?!?! OHHHH NOOOOO!!!! It does sound like a temp problem, especially since its shutting off and not just crashing back to the desktop.

To further isolate the issue ..... temporarily leave the side cover of your case open & see if this helps to prevent the arbitrary shut downs.

If it does, you may need to clean out the innards of your system including any component that has a fan attached to them. Ironically, it is hard for me to picture your machine in a hot & stuffy location with the typical weather at this time of the year, but who knows?
