ok, so i got this new gaming rig, and on two games so far its gotten about 45 minutes in when the sounds starts looping fast for about 5 seconds, then i get the blue screen of death for 3 seconds saying somethign like hardware problem, i cant really read it, it flashes to fast, but this only happens on two games so far but its consistent, i dont want to spend $1.40 a minutes on tech support, is there a way to see the error log, or does anyone know why its doing this?

From a previous post, I know you have a P35 board, Q6600, 2GB RAM but you never mentioned which video card?

Tell us about your power supply....make/wattage & ampergae ratings on the +3.3v, +5v & +12v rails.

Alright, my video card is a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS, my power supply is a ULTRA V-SERIES 600W POWER SUPPLY, heres the specs on it

AC INPUT 115V/230V - 60/50Hz
DC OUTPUT +3.3V +5V +12V +12V -12V -5V +5VSB
600W Max
Combined
Watts 25A 30A 18A 20A 0.6A - 2.5A
600W

so basically my dilemna is, on warcraft 3 and splinter cell, they get into the game, then all of a sudden it gives me a blue screen saying hardware problem or somethign like that, but what doesnt make sense is that i can run games like Lost Planet and halo for hours with no problems. When it turns back on i get that microsoft "box" saying it recovered from a serious problem and to send this to microsoft. and then i looked at the more in depth technical problem log it gave me. do you want to see that?

OK, I seem to recall you mentioning that PSU before (may have been someone else). The specs are good but they *may* not be enough for your video card. Some PSU manufacturer's are returning to a single +12v rail with mega-amperage because the split design just isn't cutting it anymore. Your PSU has 18A on the +12v1 rail...that's strictly for the CPU. The +12v2 rail has 20A, but that has to be shared by the fans, optical drives, HDDs, video card, etc. It's very possible that it isn't enough.

Have a look at what I just wrote in response #3 in this thread:

As Sabertooth said, knowing the exact error message would be helpful. Do you have your system configured to restart when there's an error rather than displaying the error message?

- right click on My Computer
- click Properties
- when System Properties pops up, click on the Advanced tab
- under Startup & Recovery, click on the Settings button
- under System Failure, uncheck the box next to Automatically restart.
