Comment:

I need some opinions on whether my system should run games(hl2, farcry, doom3) smooth 60+ fps on high settings. I already disabled the onboard video. I have a Evga 6800 128MB and have tried other lesser video cards. The foxconn mobo is new too. I have a 40GB hard drive with 8GB free. I have update bios, vgabios, and driver for mobo and videocard(71.64). The rest of my spec are above. So should this system be running those game with ease or is the choppiness and low fps because of something. THANKS

Your graphics card is fast for your system...your memory and cpu is the bottleneck.
Most intel systems run at ddr400 (although my bro has a micro atx mobo, and the fastest his supports is ddr266).

The celeron doesn't even come close to a pentium, and even a pentium4 2.5 ghz might not be able to handle all the bells and whistles.

You didn't mention what resolution you usually run at.

I have a 6600gt, and my p4 3.0 ghz overclocked to 3.4 ghz had a slight lag at high quality (although I run at 1600x1200)...I overclocked the cpu to around 3.5 ghz, and the lag disappeared. (IE: my 6600gt could handle it, but the cpu needed to play catch up)

Yeah, that Celeron rivals a P4 1.6GHz to give you an idea how bad it compares. Replace your CPU! Be aware of what memory you may need for whatever CPU you're buying.

That explains why a celeron system is soo cheap compered to a pentium

Mod it till it bleeds

Exactamundo! :-)

That's why AMD owns Intel in lower end components. Athlon XP's wipe the floor with Celerons, and are priced almost the same.
