Reply: (edit)Ok, it looks like a problem with the mpeg4system.dll, is there an intro video on certain games? Also, is your card nVidia by any chance? As they have tried to build in MPEG4 Acceleration into the drivers, but it's not that stable...

Reply: (edit)MSI X800 eh? Well, I don't know if Ati implement any MPEG acceleration, the only work around I know is to lower hardware acceleration in display settings...

Reply: (edit)"lower hardware acceleration in display settings" that was my first port of call :-) any way i managed to sort it out after some detective work. "the mpeg4system.dll" its pointing to was installed with a mobile phone management program deeeeeeep inside system32.so it must have been clashing heads with questviewer. i uninstall the program and everthings works perfect, thanks for all your help. xp pro/sp 2 120gb hdd plextor dvd-r mats---a dvd-rom Abit NF7-S V2.0 Mobo, xp2500 mobile @ 200x11/1.575v, 2X512 crucial Pc3200, MSI X800 Pro-TD256 AGP 256M PA9C-42CU cooper hea
