Setup/uninstall has stopped working

October 7, 2016 at 05:11:09
Specs: Windows 7
Whenever I try to install a game i get this error "Setup/uninstall has stopped working"
And it doesn't matter if it's "repack" game or a physical DVD game. The outcome is always the same.
And before anyone says something about pirated games, ill explain this, I've downloaded darksiders 2 repack(RG mechanics), but I have the physical copy, it's just that the DVD has been scratched after i lent it to my friend.
I've had it on this pc before(the same repack), but for whatever the reason I can't install any games now, be it legit game copy or not so legit.
Please help, I've been looking for solution for two weeks now and I still haven't found one.

My pc Specs:
Intel Core duo CPU, 2.66Hz 2.66Hz
Windows 7 ultimate sp1 64bit(legit version)
4gigs of ram
Nvidia Geforce GT630 (it has about 4gigs of Vram)

checked the first one before writing this(and many more)
But why are you giving me the v card page?(apparently mine is GT630 GDDR5 one)
Also I forgot that I had this issue before too, and apparently back then I fixed it by repairing all my MS visual studio c++ files. Although now I tried it and it didn't work.. will try re-installing all of my visual studio.

E: this time it seems VS re-install didnt work, the same problem, the game installs for some time(30-50% depending on game size) and then the nasty Setup/uninstaller has stopped working crash...

This:
http://www.tweaking.com/
is great for repairing Windows issues IF you can get it installed itself. You an try installing it in Safe Mode to see if it helps. If you can install it in Safe Mode then you might be infected with Malware so before you run it, Also install and run Malwarebytes.
You can also try running a Windows Update manually (Start>All Programs>Windows Update) and see if that helps.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Windows update works just fine, i've got all the latest updates. I left malwarebytes to scan overnight and it found some malware which i immediately cleaned. Didn't fix the issue though.
Will try Tweaking, i hope it helps.

E:Tried tweaking and it changed nothing, the same issue persists. Windows is fine which makes me think that it might be because of some other software i have..

E: Somehow I managed to solve this problem although i don't know what exactly fixed it, i did too much to remember it all. But I think that it was my antivirus got corrupted somehow, so when i uninstalled it and then re-installed it again and did a system scan it found a virus that previous scans didn't see.

If you installed Malwarebytes and Tweaking then the installer in Windows is fine.
IS the program/game you are installing compatible with your version of Windows?
IS the program/game you are installing a CD install or at least from a reliable source?
Have you checked the program/game's requirements to make sure that your hardware is compatible (disk space/graphics/available memory/CPU speed & cores - etc.).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
