Thanks for reading. I've got a Viewsonic VX922 19" LCD on the way, so that I can finally escape the 15" CRT world for the moment when I first load up Oblivion.

I really don't know a lot about settings -- either for the game nor for nVidia drivers. Stuff like vSync. Also, I know there are in-game graphical settings.

I'd really like to receive suggestions from folks who are using the 6800 series on Oblivion. Settings, driver settings, game graphical settings, etc.

Thanks!

Oblivion, unlike FEAR and other FPS games has basic video settings, choose the resolution that best works for you after you load the game.

I have a 6800 as well and normally use the 1600 X 1200 resolution for Windows screens but for gaming I normally use 1280 x 1024 or 1024 x 768.

Evaluate your rig's gaming ability

I can play obilvion 1024x768 on medium setting w/o terrible lag on my 4.1Ghz + R9700 360/585, but the fps stays around 20-30's... I think ur 6800 should play well under 1024x768 at high setting without any problem... As far as 1600x1200 goes, you probally need a better video card like 7800 series to run it. But before you even worry about 1600x1200, your LCD probally only support 1280x1024 resolution, so the native, 1280x1024 is the best for your LCD...

I have another gaming machine with 6800GS. Its a decent card. I am in the process of overclocking it step by step. I have not ran any bench marks but I have seen some good improvements while playing F.E.A.R., BF2, and COD2.
