Ok! So I wanna build a gaming computer that will play oblivion with plenty of eye candy. My current pc just doesnt cut it. So I would like suggestions on just three different parts that are SENSIBLE meaning not spending 500 on a vcard that will be obsolete in 3 months. Something that when I need to upgrade again I wont feel guilty for throwing out the old that was 500 bucks. So heres what I need suggestions on.
1. Motherboard
2. Processor speeds, etc
3. of course,,,,,video cardyou all seem to be good people here. Looking forward to some no BS answers lol

If you're going with Intel....... well i can't actually tell you much without a budget.
Post back here with your price range

Well budget is up in the air,,,,,this will be a one time thing prolly so I wanna do it right and make it worth the trouble,,,,,,and I have no clue which I prefer between amd or intel,,,,,thats what im here for lol,,,I imagine I could spend about 1500 or so

nForce 680i, Core 2 duo, xp pro sp2, (fastest u can afford, oc later), 750w PSU, 1 150hd WDR 10000rpm, 2gb, 8800gt, biggest case u can afford, keep your CRT and old accessories, and run the sound off the board...just an idea, and plenty of room for upgrades. much more fun to break the bank.
opening the box to a Gaming monster...PRICELESS!!!

....don't go with the one above me....(imo)
A good board, actually a great board, is the P35 Neo, or any board from that line with the p35 chipset. For Ram, go with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ... , at least 2gb, if your not going with this make it 2gb "ddr2" not ddr. Hdd is personal opinion, speed over size, its up to you, if you just want a normal one slap in a 320 gb sata drive. The processor, go with intel, core 2 duo right now is most common, but if you want a future proof system go with a quad core like the q6600 and then overclock the hell out of it. 750w is overkill, go with 550-600 w and a decent brand, just google it or read reviews. For the video card, if you dont want to spend 500, and want the greatest one, then go with a 8800gts 320mb. not the 640, or the new 8800 gt's there sick. Don't keep your CRT if thats what you have, it wont do your new system justice. Go with a nice samsung 22" with a 2ms response time and dvi input. It's fast and the colors are rich, get a razor mouse, there cheap now-adays. for the case, go with something nice like the x-cruiser tower, coolermaster, or along those lines, its personal opinion on what you like more then anything. Most say to go with a soundcard over the mobo, but that really is up to you if you love rich sound. The mobo one is perfectly fine. get a nice heatsink fan to. and for the cd drives, its up to you. Are you building this yourself or having a custom made. if custom, then i recommend cyberpower. it will come out to the same as if built yourself and has really good deals. hope that helps
