'Ey all. I'm using a Microsoft Wireless optical mouse 2.0 with my ZD8000, and it works great...but the scroll wheel is way too sensitive. Switching weapons in games like UT2004, Quake 4, Halo et. al takes no effort at all, and often I end up having to go back and forth with the wheel until I get to the weapon I want. Anyone know the cause of this problem, or any workarounds/fixes? Changing the mouse's scroll speed in the Control Panel doesn't seem to help. Thanks for the help...

PS: Slightly off topic, I'm looking to upgrade my RAM and/or HD...can anyone recommend some good 7200 or 10,000 RPM notebook drives? My 54000 RPM 100GB isn't cutting it anymore. Thanks again...

Do you know the interface for the HDD in your laptop (ATA-6 or SATA)? That's sorta important...There are a lot of drives at Newegg at 7200RPM, but I've never heard of a 10KRPM 2.5" drive...I like Seagate but these days they're all pretty close in performance/reliability.

Laptops use 5400RPM HDDs because they produce less heat. You're not gonna see a significant performance gain by going with a 7200RPM HDD. If you wanna improve performance, up your RAM amount to at least 1GB. Check your specs...you probably have 2 x 256MB, so you would have to replace both with 2 x 512MB.

See if changing the mouse scroll setting helps. Go to Control Panel > Mouse, click on the Wheel tab, try lowering the number of lines

Thanks for the tips...this laptop uses ATA. I'm probably just gonna go for 2GB of RAM...I've seen some decently priced 2GB configurations. Anyway, going to try the scroll thing now...
