screen goes black during games

whenever i start up a game the monitor will turn black going into hibernation mode
i've tried everything from using old and new nvidia drivers and formatting my computer
not really sure what the problem is..this only happens whenever open a game plz help

i had this problem too. can u try a different monitor or video card? that way you can narrow it down. this also happens when direct x isnt installed correctly, or the drivers arent installed correctly, or you video card is simply outdated. one final thing is make sure the pins on the monitor plug are all still there and aligned.
Also give your desktop a right-click and check your properties. Look under screensaver, monitor power and make sure your system is set to NOT hibernate or standby. Just a thought, but it's worth a shot...

i have had similar problems... only it happens whenever i open a web browser.... that is the only time it happens. IE or NS, doesn't matter. then once the screen goes black, if i turn the monitor off and back on again its ok..... until you click another link and out it goes. it is VERY frustrating to say the least. i have tried most of the suggestions above and reinstalled the browsers. it doesn't happen with any other application. just browsers....... anyone have a clue?
