Microsoft Windows 7 professional anytime...

Specs: Windows 7
screen freezes with green pixels while i am playing any new installed game.

i just brought this pc 2 months ago. my configuration is:
2.66 GHz Core 2 quad
3 gb ram,64-bit os win 7 ultimate
geforce xfx 8600 gt

i recently installed win 7 from winxp pro sp2. i thought by reinstalling the latest os things will get better, but it didnt.

now the funny part:
1)DEAD SPACE is working perfectly while in winxp and now also in win 7
2)at the beginning i had rainbow six las vegas installed and it was working perfectly at beginning, but later i purchased CALL OF DUTY MODERN WARFARE 2 and installed it in my pc.
since then all this FREEZING episode began.and after that rainbow six freezes too.but DEAD SPACE, i am still playing perfectly.

look,i have searched in net, most of them have not occurred similar problem like having running a game perfectly while the every other not.
so please leave some suggestions.

2.66 GHz Core 2 quad
3 gb ram,64-bit os win 7 ultimate
geforce xfx 8600 gt
250 gb hard disk

at beginning when i brought my pc ,i played fallout 3,rainbow
six at large resolutions. what i mean in previous post was that
it was playing for a little while longer before it freezes than
when i am at high resolution.

i don't think resolution is the issue...because at beginning all
those games running fine at normal(1024 x 800 or 1400 x 900)
resolutions.
1)are u suggesting i change my graphics card?

2)will formating the whole pc and reinstall of OS wiil help?

if u format ur pc all will be solved of course
im not reccommending a gfx card change but u should think abt it a the 8600 gt will soon suffer in future games (problem not from he gfx card)
if u format ur pc get a new gfx card too

After installing Win 7, did you install M/B chipset drivers first before installing graphic card drivers ? What about BIOS update ?

I also suggest to install latest DX drivers from Microsoft.

Follow the link below for latest DX drivers.

Hope the above helps.

Same thing is happening to me. It started when I was in COD MW2, but now the green lines appear everytime I turn the computer on, and the computer only runs for about 5 minutes before it restarts all by itself. I have run Spyware Doctor and Dr. Web CureIt through it, fixed all the 'viruses', and still have the lines and freezing problem. Plz help me out

Im guessing it's the vid card. I just had a similar issue last night with my pc. Except it didnt freeze completely. The screen went fuzzy like a tv, but bright green but I could still see what was going on. But a restart took care of the issue. It happened when I opened a game that I always play.
