Hi, I am looking at getting the Sapphire ATI Radeon X1950PRO 512MB AGP card but I hear it is VERY big, 25-30cm!, and will not fit in some full size ATX cases.

I have an Antect Sonata I case and i've measured to see if it will fit but it's so tight that I simply cannot tell without actually trying so I thought before I buy the card and end up having to RMA it, losing the cost of postage, I would ask if there is anyone who has this particular card in this particular case or am I forced to miss out on this uber fast AGP delight?

Thank you very much!

From what I hear about the antec sonata it is a rather small case, maybe you should try a smaller card, either from ATI or nVidia, failing that, you could always splash out on a bigger case ;)

I have the PCI-E version of the same card & it fits in my ATX case just fine. If it is any consolation: I have an ATX motherboard in the case.

Well! The card only just fits in the case with a front case fan. So without the fan it would be an easy fit but that wasn't the real problem.

Amazingly the card has been designed very badly. The card would not slot fully into the AGP slot and I kept trying to force it but it just wouldn't go in.

To my dismay I looked at the back of the case where all cards slot into the hole where you screw it in and the 2nd DVI socket was too far down on the card which meant it was hitting the bottom of the hole! What a stupid design! I ended up having to cut the metal and make the hole bigger!

This isn't something I should have to do to fit a card.

Now correct me if I'm wrong but aren't all case slots the same size? If so then how come no one else has come forward with this massive flaw? Would be amazing if it was just my card that was made incorrectly!

I'm also not impressed by this card. My 2nd outing with Sapphire ATI and just like the first it's no where near as good as Nvidia. I hate the ATI drivers. After 2 years I would have thought I'd see an improvement...no...if anything they're even worse.

On my old Nvidia 6600GT I had smooth HD playback with 60% CPU usage but oddly with this card I get 100% CPU and choppy playback. What's going on? Surely it's a conflict and not the card?

Damnit I wish I stayed with Nvidia!

Hey up there, I've fixed it. AGP fast writes being off is no good for my system performance. How come it is recommended to be off? Now it's back on my CPU usage is back to normal 50-70% and smooth playback!

My card has started to make a high pitch noise though. It's called harmonic distortion and it's known to happen with these cards which is a shame.
