I've always bought games GTA series as soon as they became available for the PC paying top money for the game upon day of release. It's a bit of a joke that Rockstar is only launching it for the PS2, I know that Sony has got a contract with Rockstar to keep it exclusive for their console, but why??? Sony makes PC's too?? There is no way in hell i'm forking out for some piece of s#!t console just to play the game before the year 2050. What's the problem with these people?? Surely the PS2 is obsolete already? let it die in pieces!! PS2 only release doesn't allow the game publishers to get the best out of their game on the latest hardware technology available and everyone playing it has to put up with the old crooked aching thumb syndrome..

Are there any decent PS2 emulators available for the PC these days?

Cheers.

PS2 Obselete?, did you see christmass unit sales? I wouldnt say its a peice of s--- either, it has alot of good games that other consoles and the PC dont offer, also there are games the pc offers that the ps2 cant, but many pc games are ported to consoles anyway, such as half life, sof2 , cod. As for sony, well my guess would be they are paying or have paied rockstar more money than they can refuse to keep it exclusive, and people will buy ps2 consoles becuase of it. Yes there are emulators there easy to find, its the ROMS that are your main problem, best program from them is either bit torrent or shareazza. :)

Ive been told it will be available to PC and XBOX at a later date, just like what they did with Vice City.

Looking at the emulators available, most only work with a select few games, so that's out.

I think i'll just borrow a console and rent it from Blockbusters rather than pay into Sony's greedy little marketing trick.

I just need to find a way to ditch the nasty little paddle-thingy in favour of something more keyboard/mouse style.

There seems to be a few faulty PS2's going cheap on Ebay these days. Most say they have read errors?? Is this easy to fix? Perhaps by using the internals from a cheap DVD-ROM drive or something?

The actual laser reader for the ps2 isnt that expensive or hard to replace. If there read errors its most likely that the laser unit needs replacing. Normal dvd-rom drives wouldnt work i would think mainly from the slight difference in connectivity to a PC dvd drive.

that is the EASIEST thing to fix. you just take some alcohol and a quetip, get a little alcohol on the quetip, whip it across the lens, and VOILA, its fixed. i've used this to clean my ps2 before. it was almost useless until a friend told me about that.

as for the ROMS, from what i've heard, they currently dont have a working ps2 emu.

I don't know who told LeFtBehinD, but I've a friend who works for Rockstar North in Edinburgh, and he says a PC version is in development. Don't know about X-Box though.
