Rome - Total war installation prob

When i start the installation it show the setup will guide u for installation... Loading... Then when i click next it shows there is " no prior installation of rome total war .the setup will now terminate." is this the error that cd has some scratch or something or it is related to my computer or is this something else please tell

Sounds like you are installing an Expansion Pack for the game, not the game itself.
Are you installing "Rome: Alexander" or "Rome: Barbarian Invasion"?
If yes, you need to have the original game installed first. These are expansion packs that add to the original game - they cannot be played by themselves.
