RollerCoaster Tycoon Save Files Disappearing

So in general all of my save files for Rollercoaster tycoon as well as all of my saved track designs were erased. This definitely has the hallmark of Vista (I also lose .exe files occasionally for no reason.)
Any advice on how to make Vista not be totally idiotic? Or for that matter how to solve this particular problem?... I had some pretty sweet parks there...
