Putting together a computer for a kid in the neighborhood. It's a freebe. Broken family moms out of work yada yada.
Acer Veriton 5200.
If this were just for non game use the machine flys. But for games it's a bust.
All specs are above the games requirements except the graphics card.
I have tried a 3d blaster banshee, a pny verto
and Acers aamic graphics card.Program errors out saying cards are not good enough.
Can some one recommend an inexpensive but usable card that Roller Coaster will except?
Have a super day.

Which version of Roller Coaster Tycoon...1, 2 or 3? Obviously the newest will have the stiffest requirements. None of the cards you have fit the bill:
"Any ATI Radeon® with 32MB or higher; or other video card with 32MB and hardware T&L (ATI Radeon™ 64 MB SDR or other video card with 64 MB or more memory and hardware T&L recommended)"

Does the system have an AGP slot or just PCI?
EDIT: just looked it up & it has an APG 2X/4X slot:

Jam, Thank you for your reply.
I have saved your reply as I think there will be more computers that need a better graphics card in the future.
It is 3. I went ahead and flashed the bios on a different computer ( Oh I hate doing that) then got an updated driver for the onboard video.
Installed the demo...up and running.
Delivered the computer, monitor, key board mouse, and a printer to the high school kids house. Mom freaked......Free?I love it.
Also set him up with a free internet account providing he keeps his grades up.
He better! This is just a hobby, but it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling when I deliver a system to a kid who just may be the one to answer some of the Worlds problems.Cancer,pollution,energy.
It is amazing how many kids don't have a computer and never will because of conditions at home.
All the computers I pick up are free from banks and commercial institutions and off the curbs on trash day. The curbies offer some of the best parts.
Guess I need to start looking for high end graphics cards as well.
Again thank you for your reply.
Oh! As always ,just in case they are reading this.....World Library thanks Microsoft for their continued software support.
Off and running,
Robin Raintree @ World Library

Nice of you to get that computer and internet connection set up for the youngster. You've set a good example for the rest of us geeks. ;)
The signature took a memory dump.
