Have been given option by Lowestonweb.com. Keep having problems with their badged 9800 Pro. Replaced 3 times with faulty fan (torched card). They have offered alternative product: Gecube 128mb Radeon X700 Pro Performance edition.
Value less than 9800 Pro.
Should I go for X700 instead of 9800?
On Tomshardware cant find direct comparison as 9800 compared to X800 etc and mixed reviews elsewhere

Thanks for yor post. Reading some of the tech site reviews in b/marking/games it seems that X700 comes out ok.
Is the major advantage 9800 has over the X700the bandwidth of memory (256bit vs 128bit)
My inclination is to stay with 9800 but..

Yes, that is the main reason. But keep in mind that you can get a 9800 pro in both 128 bit and 256 bit as where the x700pro is only a 128 bit card. Just make sure the replacement card your getting is the 256 bit version.

I wouldn't bother replacing your 9800 pro for the x700 as benchmarks are quite similar. But if you have the card you could always try :D
