Hello!
I recently started playing some games (Sims 2, Sam and Max) and noticed my grpahics card really needs to be updated (S&M has lag in graphics so lipsyncing stuffs up)
I was wondering if anyone could reccommend a graphic card
My motherboard can have AGP 8x, I dont know what else you'd need to knowThanks!
Do not question me, unless you have a question

"mx4000 is good"
...NOT!
The best AGP card out is the Radeon HD3850. It's pretty fast, is DX 10.1 compatible, and has ATI's UVD for HD disc playback on older single-core computers. Newegg has one for just $139!

Or for $89, ATI's much slower HD3650 video card:

I've got this card in my Tualatin PIII-powered HTPC, and the UVD actually gives it enough kick to play Blu-Ray discs. As for gaming, it'll do fine at around 1024x768.
You may also want to upgrade your RAM to 2GB. This will make many of today's games run nice and smooth.
The creme de la creme of Socket 939:
Opty 185 @ 3.2GHz
SLIed GTS-640s both flashed to 625/1458/1950
4GB PC3200
Blu-Ray/HD-DVD, X-Fi
A8N32-SLI Deluxe
DIY 1080p projector

it all depends on how much you want to spend . geforce 8500gt is only 40$ most places. otherwise go with the ati hd 3850 or 4850 or geforce 9800, those will run from 200-300$

The MX4000 is NOT a good gaming card...it's extremely low end, not to mention extremely old. The 8500GT is also low end, but at least it's a modern low end card but I don't think there's an AGP version. There is no 9800 or 4850 available for AGP either...the HD3850 is as good as it gets. And any AGP gaming card will require a decent power supply.

Yes I agree that all depends on how much do you want to spend. But personally I think you can consider the 4850 card, they are with quite nice price now, maybe for the reason of the coming of 9800gtx+. A recent deal on the PowerColor Radeon HD4850 512MB GDDR3 video card is $150 .I think that's quite a nice choice. Most 8800gt card are just around that price.

Wow, thanks for the advice :) I will most likely look into the Radeon HD3850 as that seems popular, and hopefully my computer has a good enough power source
Thanks a lot guys!Do not question me, unless you have a question

Is anyone paying attention?? His motherboard supports AGP 8X! There are no AGP verions of the HD4850 or 9800GTX, nor will there ever be!! HD3850 is as good as it gets for the AGP interface.
@ nkbswe5,
Post the make/model, wattage & amperage specs for your PSU. If you don't know, open the case & get the info off the PSU label. There's no point getting a high end gaming card if your PSU can't support it. If the PSU needs to be replaced, plan on spending between $50-100 for something decent.
BTW, what video card do you currently have? What's the make/model of your motherboard? And while I'm asking, what's the make/model of your CPU?
