Hi! I hop that you guys can help me with my problem. I have searched everywhere trying to find a solution for this. Here is my RIG: AMD Athlon XP 2800+ 512MB PC2700 RAM 400W PSU (CRAP! CAME WITH CASE!) SOYO DRAGON KT600 Plus V. 1.0 POWERCOLOR RADEON 9800SE 128MB 256-BIT 120GB MAXTOR ATA 133 HDD 48x CD-ROM DVD+R DRIVE 80MM CPU FAN 2 80MM CASE FANS Ok, sorry , I just thought you may need as much info. as possible. I am having a problem with my computer. Whenever I play any of the following games : Jedi Academy, Serious Sam 2, RTCW as well as soemtimes in Far Cry my computer will just randomly lock up. I will get into the game, and then like 10-12 seconds later it will just lock up. I have tried setting my computer on the most conservative of settings (everything stock, RAM by SPD, no Overclocking) and I can prolong the time that it locks up, but it still locks up. now my case stays pretty cool. At full load even Overclocked the CPU never gets higher than 50* C,and the case no hotter than 40*C. I was just wiodnering if this could be a power supply problem or is my video card defective. However, the most surprising twist is that games like Doom 3 run just fine, even at high detail, no lock up. So, this is just getting strange. I would love any help anyone could give me. Thank You

I use to have a 2800+ that did that all the time with 3d games but never with regular applications. I posted my problem here and none of the replies i got worked. The only thing that took care of my problems was to lower my fsb from 166 to 146. Yes that does suck to have to do that because the cpu is rated for 166 but like i said its the only thing that stoped my games from freezing. In case your wondering about my heatsink and fan, it was a volcano 11 wich is plenty sufficient for that cpu. Also make sure all your chipset,video, and sound drivers are upto date as well as directX and the most current game patches have been applied huh?
