Hi, Im looking at two different laptops, one has an ATI Radeon Mobility 9600 graphics card its an Averatec 6100 laptop, and the other has a Nvidia Geforce4 go 440 its a HP or Compaq laptop, havent decided the compaq is cheaper than the HP, both graphic cards have 64mb of dedicated vram.

Is the Radeon better than the Geforce, or is the Geforce better than the radeon. Im trying to get the best gaming laptop that I can for under $1100 preferably under $1000 and these seem to be the best I can find. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Yup, 9600 by miles.

Some people are like Slinkies, not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs...

The 9600 is far better than the Gforce for games running on DX9 as a lot of new games are not supported by the 440 chipset. It just can't handle the information that the games turn out now and a lot of the special effects that run in the background on games like Tomb Raider A.O.D. just will not run. In fact if you look on that game box it states that the 440 chipset is not supported.

The 440 chipset is used by Geforce MX cards...low end cards. If the 9600 is so great, why do you need to compare it to the low-end of its competition?

Uhh, did you read the first post in this thread?

Why are you arguing?

I'm arguing because I am contentious and I enjoy provoking people.

Why are you dredging up month-old threads and adding zero content?

LOL!

A. it wasn't a month old thread. It was a week old thread, and only a few days after you opened it back up for no reason.
B. your point had zero relevance and zero content. I merely pointed that out.

Have a nice day!
