hi guys,
any suggestions of how can i take the best of my radeon 9550 video card. Any tweaks that can make this cards performs at its max. I play counter strike, and compare to my friends video card, i see different skins on my CS game than my friends. Why is that? is it the video card's performance or some updates of the games(which i don't think so because i have the most recent updates). Any suggestions please, thanks.

Make the best? Ok, just chuck it out the window becuase radeons suck! Burning it is always fun too. Of course there's dynamite, flamethrowers, or a 2-ton anvil. Oh, wait: there's always the GeForce FX! Yes! That's the best! That is, if you want CS to work correctly(believe me, I have one).

Sorry for being so extreme, I just have had terrible times with ATI Radeons. Once I switched over to nVidia, everything ran much faster and my system was a lot more stable. But still, your card is near the same performance of a GeForce 3 or 4, which are both old, so I still recommend replacing it, stable and fast or not. BTW: I like GeForce cards better because they have better compatability with games and things like DirectX. I'm not being bias in this message (the previous one I was), I'm just saying it like it is.

hello,
If U wanna take the best of ur card, u can download rivatuner and let it scan for optimal clock frequencies to overclock ur card, (this might not work as I've heard some ATI's need a bios flashing to do overclock), regarding the different skins on CS it could be caused by the way in which the 9550 applies textures.

It is not that Linux isn't friendly, it's just that linux knows to choose its friends.
