Yes, I know Quake 3 is old but I still play it as do quite a few other people I know, and I would like to know some performance tweaks to run fast (Dis-regarding on the graphics, just for pure speed for online/etc), my Graphics card is a quite a bit dated, and I have no reason to upgrade as I usually don't do much PC gaming.

Lowering your resolution and detail levels is a good way to keep online play fast and lag-free: when your computer isn't starved for information, it can respond to the game network better.
Also, close all background tasks, especially ones that periodically connect to the internet (automatic live updates from antivirus software, Messenger, Windows Automatic Updates) and if you're having trouble connecting through a router you may need to do some port forwarding.
