Subject: PS3 sound issues...OS: Windows Vista Ultimate 64CPU/Ram: Dual AMD Opteron 275 2.2Model/Manufacturer: Alienware MJ-12 7550a |
Comment: I haven't seen any references to this, so I'll try my luck here. I have a PS3 attached to my TV via an HDMI cable. Looks great, but the audio is way too loud. I have to set my TV volume to 01, but I hear distortion is some games, as if the audio out is turned up too loud. I haven't seen any references to this issue anywhere. I can't see how (if I can) to adjust the audio level out under the PS3 settings... It's not an issue with the TV as the HDMI audio via the cable box is fine (there are 3 HDMI inputs and all work fine with the cable box, and all sound distorted with the PS3 - also tried two different HDMI cables), and the TV only allows for bass and trebble adjustments... Any ideas...? Did I miss something? Thanks.

Reply: (edit)No, HDMI cables send audio and video, though you can choose to send only audio or only video if you wish - this applies to all devices that utilize HDMI (except for the obvious, like an HDMI enabled audio reciever will not send or register video signals).

Reply: (edit)Yeh I know but it doesnt seem to work on the Ps3 try using an optical cable as this seemed to work with the guys at toms hardware. I don't think the cables are expensive.
