I require advice on achieving a ps2 connection through my pc to access online gaming. I have a network adapter, crossover cable conection the ps2 to PC and broadband. The broadband modem has no additional sockets/plugs for direct connection. Please help its driving me insane.

im guessing you use AOL.

Im like the only person who can use a bt voyager 205 with aol... but they dont know = )

they suck for sharing.

Buy a router. It's cheap, doesn't rely on your PC being up and running to play, increases your network security, and allows you to easily add PC's or other networking devices to the network.

does a router not need to plug into the back of the modem, as there are not additional sockets to achieve this.

You plug the router to the modem, and the router has a four ports. Therefore, you could plug in your PC and PS2, and still have 2 ports left, which on any of those ports you could uplink a switch to add more ports. The other good thing with a router is not a single device on your network is exposed without firewall protection unless you do a special configuration on your own. It's definitely a safer, faster, and more reliable way to go.
