OS: windows XP
CPU/Ram: dunno - i will find out i
Comment:

Ive always played aok on my dads pc and now mine, then i thought hey, this game sucks im gonna spunk £80 on a graphics card and play some decent games, however

The problemo is that after playing 1 min - 90 min - anytime limit on my game it freezes, it either recorvers with the error msg, from the graphics card manufacturer ( i will ss when it happens again) or is major problemo and does not unfreeze and i have to restart f---ing my downloads of movies, it also happens to i aok which doesnt need the graphics card!

This means i am f---ed to play fifa2004, proevo4, nightfire and counterstrike condition zero etc.

The problem occurs alot more often when i have windows media player on.

Ok possible things i think may fix it

1) buy new graphics card (Dont want to!!!, im only a student)
2) add couple of extra fans in there
3) keep playing and hope it goes away(hasnt since i got it 6 months ago)

p.s. rebooting, restarting, scanning/fixing does not solve the problem, im pretty sure its the graphics card

Any responces helpful

Ta Mat

Can't help without knowing the specs of your machine (motherboard, CPU, RAM) & what video card you have. How about the temp of your system & CPU & number of case cooling fans you have? Also need to know the wattage of your power supply & how many amps are on the +12v rail.

If im not mistaken the sapohire raedon 9600 is SE which means it is crap. Check to see if its SE or not. If its SE then more then likely you will need a better card.

Mat_the_Cool,

Sorry to read about your issue. Not to *completely* disagree with Avun, but it is my opinion your graphics card may not be your problem (at least not because it is a 9600 SE

I have an ATI Radeon 9600 SE and although I agree it is a low end card, I was able to play HalfLife2 (offline)with all settings at medium with only a minor stutor on occasion. My card has only a heatsink and was able to play for hours at a time. I know HL2 is not the most graphics intensive but it does put your system through it's paces.

If you have problems with the computer crashing while not gaming it is likely not the card (You did not specifically state on way or the other)

My first check would be PowerSupply. If it is an offbrand and your a running quite a bit on the computer (GFX card, multiple hard drives, multiple opticals, or other items each draw power from the system...

If the graphics card is running hot and causing the problem you may be able to include a pci slot fan to direct air around the card (be careful it may also direct it away from the CPU depending on your case, fan placement, and CFM in/out)

Any other details that you can give us?

Well I have the message now screen dumped and hosted on this site

http://img67.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img67&image=matspcproblems7ru.png

This is the message that comes up when it sometimes recovers, while typing this message my pc has already come up with that message and crashed, so im now typing this message again.

I am not running my pc with that much stuff, 1 harddrive, 1 graphics, 1 onboard graphics i think, 3 fans, a drive, cd rom drive, motherboard, nothing OTT.

what type of fan would i need and i have my pc at the moment with its side case of and I am touching the card and its not hot at all, quite cool in some places.
